Our AGM will be held Tuesday, May 15,2018 at Hamilton’s Waterfront Centre our speaker for the evening will be Paul Benedetti, Journalism professor at UWO and an award winning author. Paul’s widely read Saturday column, has been delighting Hamilton Spectator readers for years. His talk for the evening will take us on a not so serious tour through some of the best humor writing in the 20th century and will be followed by the CFUW-Hamilton AGM.

The Winnipeg Motion
CFUW members this article is being circulated by concerned members who are trying to understand the full implications of the motion to make membership in GWI (our international affiliate) optional for individual CFUW members. At our April 17 general meeting, our club voted against this motion. Nevertheless our executive thought that all of our members should have the opportunity to read this correspondence.

Notice is hereby provided that the Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) will be held electronically from 11:30 a.m. EST to 4:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, June 23, 2018 for the purpose of:
- Receiving annual reports and auditor’s report,
- Approving the audited financial statements,
- Considering proposed external policy resolutions,
- Considering proposed amendments to CFUW articles and bylaws,
- Considering proposed CFUW internal policies,
- Holding elections for the Board of Directors and
- Transacting such other business as may be brought before the meeting.

With International Women’s Day fast approaching and the departure of the CFUW delegation to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW) in less than two weeks, CFUW National has prepared this special edition of the Club Action Newsletter to reflect on the United Nations sustainable development goals and raise awareness on the key findings and issues CFUW will be discussing at this high-level with its priority theme: “Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls”.
